Does it go into park without grinding? If not (grinding while going into park) then maybe transfer case.

YES GOES INTO PARK NORMAL LOOKS LIKE TRANS REBUILD, MAKES NOISE WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR AND NOISE CHANGES WHEN GOING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN REV,DRIVE,PARK,1ST,2ND. LOOKS LIKE A BAD DEAL, $700 BUCKS ANEXPECTED EXPENCE, I HATE BEEING BROKE. :x

Sounds like your 4L60E just went bad or the torque converter went bad.

Rule #1 when buying a truck, make sure it doesn't have a 4L60E in it, and make sure it doesn't have a 10 bolt rear in it.

Ha HA i wish it was only $700, it ended up costing me about $1,700 with a new valvebody and rebuild with upgraded
and wider bands, converter, the computer thing on the side with both wiring pigtales, and i done all the labor, the freakin wiring alone was
135.00 for two small plugs that i had to splice in   what a joke. But its a good trany now.

Next time u have to unplug that "computer thing" try heating the plugs up with a lighter so it melts the stuff in them that makes it weather proof. They will slide right out.

I did manage to get them apart but there was some of the prongs that were not making good contact
and were bad along with the gear solector sensor so i had to replace them anyway, but that is
somthing to remember about heating it up so you can unplug it.
