i just got a 84 k20 it was born with a auto and now has a 4spd manual, i wanna put in a 700r4 and transfer case i have from a 1989 chevy 1500, what needs to be done for this to work? the truck still has the auto steering colum in it. i do know i need a aftermarket torque convertor because of all the power it makes.the engine is a 450hp edlebrock 383. was a 350 before build. thanks guys!

Well a 89 chevy has the output for the front driveshaft on the wrong side. You need a older np208 for that.

Yes, there was a few years from around 83 or 4 to 87 that had the 700 r4 and the aluminum cased chain driven NP208. I have a 700 and a 208 set up here at the house. ( Im a chevy parts horder ) :D

I bought it as a spare but have never run it. Not sure on the trade. If you had a complete set up ( flywheel, clutch, bell, tranny and a 205 case) I might want to. As I say, I never saw this one go. My buddie I have known since school said it worked great. Who knows.
