Something else to fix!

Postby Richie O » Fri Feb 04, 2011 5:03 pm

Wife comes home today and says her power steering crapped out and was making bad ass sounds. ( 97 Jeep cherokee ) Pop the hood and the oil is everywhere. First I think rusted pressure line. She fired it up and I was watching the pulley on the pump. Ran real true. Then all of a sudden it got real loud and the pulley looked like a DA sander in a good orbit. NICE. So thats my project for tommorow, along with shoveling the roof, and about 50 hours of other stuff I need to do in one day.

I had the one off the wifes when I did the exhaust, not that bad of a job. Send the kids on the roof, they don't weigh as much either. ;)

Well, it looks like I get to change the pump again. The wife just called on her way to work and said the power steering worked for about 4 miles and crapped out. She checked the oil level and belt. Pump is turning, full of oil, and is quiet. I am not friggen happy. That pulley was a mofo to get pressed on to the new pump. I bet I was an hour just pulling the pulley and pressing it on the new ( reman garbage ) pump. Score another happy reman customer. ASS

I hope you're working inside a shop, or maybe a heated shop?

I don't have a shop, and her other ( rusty pile wrangler ) is in my dads shop since september with the front axle yanked out of it. I'm a little slow getting started on that one. :D So, that puts me out in the ice. :|

Well I fired it up this morning and it did not work at all. I reved the piss out of it and cranked the wheel lock to lock and it came out of it. I'm gonna see if " maybe " there was 1 more air pocket that worked out of it. I shut it off and started it several times and all is good. I hope thats all it is. I have never had one work, then stop, then work again that was not frigged. :|
