Always check the obvious

Postby meby » Sun Apr 15, 2012 10:23 am

I changed the points (and exciter, coil, etc) on a Ford 4000 recently and it worked great. Two days later it started missing on a cylinder. So I checked and rechecked the points thinking I must have set them wrong. Yesterday after checking them again I decided to unhook plug wires one at a time to see if it was random or a specific cylinder. I tracked it down to a specific one and traced the wires to make sure they were all hooked up properly (they are hard to see under the battery). Sure enough, one of them was pulled all the way out. I don't know how, but I must have pulled it out by accident somehow or another. Anyhow, always check the obvious.
