GCWR

Postby SChandler » Sat Jun 07, 2008 8:51 pm

Does anybody know what the GCWR is for these trucks? Specifically 5spd, 3/4 ton, reg. cab models with 3.54 gears :D . I have always wondered what it was. I know what the GVWR (8510lbs) is since it's on the tag on the door, but I've never seen the GCWR posted anywhere on the truck. TIA.

I recall seing somewhere it's around 10k more, depending on axle and gear. The DRWs and 4.10s are slightly higher. Can't recall where I saw that tho, so YMMV.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Thanks Pete, I was hoping somebody with an Owner's Manual would look it up. I looked it up on TDR after I posted and found the 12,000lb. auto rating (which also made mention of a 14,000lb. rating with the under bed trans. cooler) and the 16k rating for the manuals. Interesting that the 4.10 gears get you an extra thousand pounds with the manual, but nothing with the automatics.

Rear Gear Ratio

That's cause the rear gear don't make any difference with an automatic when it's sitting at a stoplight with 5 tons behind it. The clutch transmits alot more power to the rear from a standing stop, as opposed to the auto that transmits alot of heat into the torque converter.
