Learned which front shocks to buy

Postby Douglas » Fri Mar 05, 2010 8:28 pm

hey-Hey!!!,
I put Bilsteins in the front of my '90 today. Tried the stiffer B46-0925-HO and found them too short. Had to use the +9000 lb., longer, softer BE5-2514-HO and they fit just fine. Now Monroe specifies for 4000 lb. front suspension or not and that is much simpler to understand and results in the right ones on the first try( got them for the first '91 ever so long ago ). The Bilsteins are ever so much nicer and worth a 50% premium in price.

Seems rather simple and obvious now that my hands are clean and the truck is whole once more...but here it is for y'all.
cheers,
Douglas

I've had good luck with Bilsteins on 2wds in the past (and, coincidentally, had horrible luck with Monroes in the past). Wife's shop is running a buy 3 get one free deal on KYBs, so I may put them on my pickup. May as well get the other stuff installed that I have sitting around first, though- HE351VGT, springs all around, back-up/ work lights, etc.
