What I learned..

Postby Remps » Fri Dec 17, 2010 9:41 am

The Gf and I were goin out to a nice restaurant the other day. Got all dressed up and went outside to start the 90. It had been snowing a lot, and the wind direction was right that a lot of snow blew into the stack. Anyway, I opened the drivers door and reached inside to start it. When it fired, it covered me in black sooty snow. Lots of black spots on my face. I've learned to get IN the truck to start it from then on.

I got my little girl pretty bad once. :D She was like " DAAAAAAD". I also got my mother years ago on my boat. At the time I had a T6354M perkins and it was a dirty old girl with major soot in the pipe.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Yup, most working boats have hot exhaust. My perk had 4 inch stainless straight pipe. Sounded very good. My current 6D16 mitsubishi has 3 inch stainless with a good stainless muff on the roof. The problem with water cooled exhaust that exits at the waterline is they can freeze this time of year. My exhaust manifold is water cooled, but its hooked in with the cooling system ( antifreeze ).
