New here

Postby Samsonite » Sat Oct 18, 2014 2:06 pm

New to the forum. Had a few diesels and recently got a 93' W250. Getrag trans. Truck has had a lot of work done by prev owner, and myself. May have seen it on CL. Tossing around selling it but at the same time still improving it.

First thing i did when i bought the truck was pull the head, replace the headgasket and stick in some ARP studs. After that i found a low mile ATS Aurora 3000 for cheap. Turned full fuel in all the way, starwheel ~2 turns from bottom, smoke screw ~1.5 turns down, ground the fuel pin etc...

Runs very strong. but of course i am wanting more and more. Had an 04 common rail with just stacked tuners, trying to get it comparable.

Bought a 2000 24V intercooler, and just ordered some 3" piping for it, so that is next. Looking for a good clean streetable injector also.

My main complaint is power off the line and between shifts. I typically start in 2nd gear (1st too low) and the truck tends to bog a bit before taking off. The 3000 lights better than the H1C but still too slow. Makes about 35 PSI and 1250 EGT max. Between shifts it doesn't pull as hard as my old 04 unless you really ring it out. Im sure it would feel a lot better at sea level but here in Denver it leaves me wanting more...... Is it possible??

Here are some PICS!

Welcome!

Turn that smoke screw up and tighten the starwheel. Trust me on this. Responsiveness goes up.

I tried the starwheel tight and all i got was a worse bog and more smoke...I've heard mixed things on this. Some say that too much down low "puts out the fire". Kind of wondering if the factory intercooler is leaking. I just changed two boots out that were questionable and i could swear its spooling quicker now.

Thanks guys
