Diesel noob from CO

Postby xohcef » Thu Mar 29, 2012 4:18 pm

My name is Paul and I am a diesel noob but have a bit of mechanic experience with (puts flame zsuit on) Honda's. Which is a huge reason as to why I'm getting into diesel trucks, 1st gens specifically. The reason as to getting into diesels is last year my father lent me his 06 big horn to get to Vegas and back twice to race my Honda. 6 months later and 3300 miles put on his odometer I asked to borrow it May 6th for the next race. He said I should make a few of his truck payments this year, I said that's fair but when push came to shove I got an itch to get my own Inline 6. I could see myself in a duramax long before a power stroke but ultimately those ideas get tossed out the window when the Cummins is on the table. I'm currently in plan to buy a 2wd dually from a board member here. My plan is to have a toy hauler that'll take my car and one possibly two more cars over he pass.

Anyway I am a forum nerd when it comes to my Honda racing which is where I learned most of what I do know now. I look forward to learning all the essentials from the motor and trans and everything else front to back. Also look forward to getting to know the diesel guru's, everyone in the Honda forums are either pricks or wont share any know how. So itll be a different change of pace. Lol

Here's what I haul around, hopefully with a first gen this summer

How much speed did you have to give those gerbils to make them run that fast? :D Welcome to our disfunctinal family.

I have made some good money flipping em as well. Thanks, the failure was due to too much timing and a lean spot it had in the tune. Its since been back on the dyno and cleaned up. That and my stupid habbit for trying to push 30+ lbs through my stock aluminum block

A gerbil gnawed through the cardboard cylinder wall tube to escape, because he wasn't being paid a fair and equal wage to spin a crankshaft all day.

You were warned that this IS a dysfunctional family, right?
