I know for a fact that there are a few Dodge trucks in that part of the world...I parted out two mid 80's W450's at Al Asad during my first tour of Iraq...wouldn't surprise me if there was one in Pakistan...

I been under the impression that the most common truck in that part of the world was a 4 door Toyota.

I like Mr Bob thought that the smaller trucks would be the norm.....

For the most part, little crew cabs are prevelant, Toyota's, Mitsubishi's, etc. One type is very common in Iraq than the U.S., the Toyota FJ-45 Land Cruiser with a bed on it. They are everywhere. I very badly wanted to get my hands on one, as they were imported to the U.S. for only a couple of years.

Question ike.... I'm very curious as to the reason for parting a truck there...was the army reusing/absorbing the parts or something?

Na, I was just out wandering around post when I stubmbled onto those two W450's. Al Asad Air Base was an old Iraqi air field that had been long abandoned, and when we showed up, it was like showing up at a wrecking yard...junk everywhere. Everything from fighter jets to Russian military trucks. We use to take the "long way" to get parts where our active duty counterparts had the shipping/recieving area, and that's how we "found" those trucks. Both had the tires, wheels, and seats removed, and looked as if they had been sitting for ten plus years. Well, one of the perks of being a wrecker operator, I had access to a torch and a crane. I got the 23 spline 205's, and the front D60's out from under them. The sheet metal was damn near perfect, but that was too large to ship back. In the same area was also a mid-80's K30, got the TH400/205 combo out of it along with the D60 front. I cleaned and painted the parts, made crates with b.s. shipping labels, banded them closed, and put all of it in the back of one of our maintenance 5ton trucks. The packaging looked good enough that customs didn't even look at the paperwork. After a few months of returning home, our trucks showed up, complete with crates in the back

I have no clue as to how those trucks got in that part of the world, might have been part of all the equipment we gave the Iraqi military during the Iraq-Iran war...?
