I am a Mopar or no car man. I was raised in an all Mopar family, my grandad was a mechanic and powerwagon disciple. I want you to know about my first truck a 1973 W100 single cab long bed. It was the farm truck where I worked in NE Oregon. I learned how to drive in this truck and my boss made a deal with me to work it off when I was 16. The deal was for $2,000 worth of my labor at my $6.00hr pay rate in 1988. The truck had 97,000 miles 8.75 rear 44 front 318 2bbl 727 and 205. It had been loaded like a 1ton, jumped by me and the boss chasing deer, and abused in every way imaginable. Before the end of summer the tired 318 sucked a valve keeerpluey! I bought an E58 360 from a cop car in the local junkyard and a new edelbrock manifold headers and WOW my truck was now one of the fastest in highschool :) My highschool had a group of off road enthusiasts and I immediately was adopted into this group of thrill seekers called the "cake eaters". Right away we lifted my truck 2" and put on some 33's my truck was fast but not great wheelin so in went an auburn sure grip now I was breakin trail with the best of them and an occaisional axle. Oops out of room have to continue

Continued from yesterday: I continued to build the old farm truck bigger and better each time. Eventually I wound up with a built 440 Dana 60s locked up front and rear Winches front and rear Custom long travel suspension with a reversed shackle in the rear Two more inches of body lift and cut front fenders I drove this truck regularly like that for another decade until it was too rusted out to drive anymore i.e. fenders ready to fall off. I had been looking for a good crew cab to convert over for many years when I finally found an ex-Air Force truck at an auction in Phoenix. It's a creampuff with factory air conditioning And great sheet metal all around ;) I am planning on Using all of my old trucks goodies on the crew cab And was searching for a Cummins donor when I picked up a nice 200+ thousand mile 4 x 4 five-speed last summer. This is my first Cummins and I couldn't resist turning up the pump Adding a M&H 3 fuel pin 3200 spring bumped the timing an eighth and 4" Diamond Eye Exhaust system with a fresh air filter And auto meter gauges to monitor my temps and boost. Since I do not have a shop at the time I went ahead and put the suspension and winches and bumpers from my old truck on the diesel;) I've had a lot more fun with this then I originally imagined and driving the truck like this makes me feel as if I did not let my high school truck die but instead converted it to an oil burner. I hope to soon have shop access and be able to put everything together on the crew cab with a custom flatbed
;)
