Hello from minnesnowta

Hi,

Figured it was about time I join here since I've been lurking around on here for over a year. Many great threads here helped me narrow down what to look for when i went 1st gen shopping so thanks for that.

My name is Sean I have a 91 D350. I Purchased this truck as my tow vehicle. I debated many options from fords, to chevy's to 1st-3rd gen cummins. When I started doing my research one truck kept hitting the mark on the head for my needs, my budget, and my style the 1st gen! So did my research figured out I wanted a 2wd dually and I wanted it to be a regular cab, extended would be ok, but I like the smaller cab. Started looking found a sweet rig not to far away and it wasn't rusted to sthi since it was a summer only driven fleet vehicle for a lawn service.

Truck is a 91 D350 Non IC truck. Cruise, Auto, 3.07's and a class 5 hitch. She runs great, but is starting to show the 1/4 million miles on some of the things. Recently did the front bearings, calipers, pads, rotors, and studs. Needs a full front end refresh, but I'll get there after the engine is running better.

Goal for this truck is a solid tow rig that gets good mileage cruising, can pull 10-12,000lbs easily and doesn't flinch when I ask it to pull stuck cars. I'm a car junky owning many cars mostly older Audi/VW and do car shows and racing across the country so a tow rig has been on my list for a few years, now I just want to get this one Solid!

I'm wanting a URS4 something fierce. Heard a 95 with a stage 1 turbo and I loved it!

95 would actually be the URS6, but same basic thing. I've yet to own an UrS my brother has but I haven't closest I've had is the 200 20vt wagon I own, but it's never had an engine since I purchased it. One of the many things I've towed with my dodge.

I'm hoping to get compounds on this thing!

Welcome!

I suggest building or buying a performance transmission right off the bat. It's a night and day difference at any power level. I don't regret swapping an overdrive trans into my '89 either.

I already am on the hunt for an eaton FSO-6406 or 8406 hate autos, but it wasn't worth the extra a manual would have cost me when purchasing this truck since it wasn't very good unit for power.
