We are new here!

Postby tammiegrim » Mon Feb 22, 2016 4:02 pm

Hi! Thanks for letting us join! My husband Marty and I have just recently purchased a 1979 Dodge Sportsman Motorhome, on a Dodge 1st Gen Chassis. We are hoping to restore it to as original as possible and then use it to see the country! So far, we have found about everything we were looking for, and after watching numerous YouTube videos, and reading forums, this group is mentioned time after time after time as being the nicest and most helpful place for 1st gen people! We are hoping to get some help to replace the discontinued 16.5 rims/tires with compatible coined 16 inch rims, which are proving to be extremely elusive. We also would like to have a place for help with any mechanical help we may need in the future! Thanks again and glad to be here!

Welcome!

I've done some light camping, it's pretty sweet. A motorhome would be way nicer than a RC though.

Hope we can help you out, though I've got no experience on old school dually wheels. Maybe a newer, D80 swap, get a limited slip, taller gears, and everything

Welcome. I've camped in my regular cab dodge a time or two (not that uncomfortable with the bench really) but having an actual bed is always nicer

I sleep in the back of my W350 at track days. A camper sounds way nicer. I'm also hunting for some coined 16" wheels!
