Howdy from Montana

Postby dmerlin25 » Thu Mar 31, 2016 7:50 am

Howdy all, I'm David. You might be able to guess my middle name. I am the proud owner of a 93 W250 LE 12V. I've owned it for 6 years and just about have most of the quirks out of it. I certainly appreciate all the info you guys post. I use that info regularly. It's just about thawed out at my place in Montana and I'm about to start some new projects with Charmaine (my truck).

Things to do;

Welcome!

Got a question for you in regards to the rear shackle flip...How well did the truck sit after the flip versus before? I'm guessing that you removed the factory 5" lift block, but did you lower the forward rear spring mount?

I took out the block and put in the shackle flip after I destroyed my original Dana 70. I replaced it with a Dana 80 (recently passed on) and couldn't use the blocks. The flip raised it to its original height and took the edge off the rough ride. I would definitely recommend it. I didn't touch the forward mount, but I will when I put on longer springs one day, front and rear. I bought a kit from a guy on the Ramcharger forum.Image

I haven't messed with the fuel screw yet, I'm worried about the FSS with the stock injectors. I did put in a denny T fuel pin. I have a 366 spring and I plan on advancing the timing when I reseal the pump.

If you're normally In situations that allow you to let off the throttle slowly, the FSS shouldn't give trouble

Please consider that I can easily brake down 80 miles from the nearest town and 20 miles from the nearest ranch on many of our county roads that see very little traffic. Every Mod I make I consider reliability. When I told you my Oil fuel gelled up on me on my way to North Dakota, I had to sleep in the truck and wait for the sun to rise and warm up a little before I could get the ol' girl started. I never saw another vehicle in that time and I was diligent about not draining my battery. It wasn't that cold, Maybe 30 degrees that night in early September, but cold enough. This is not the only time I've slept in a vehicle over night in winter, just the one time I did in my 12V. Did I mention no cell service either, but that has improved much since the oil boom.
