The new guy

Postby Dirty Luther » Sat Apr 02, 2016 5:25 am

Hello . Jumping right into what got going on.. I purchased my first gen about 8 yrs a go a d350 single cab and used it to pull a cargo trailer for about two years when it layed down on me I parked it in the barn and started driving my 94 cummins.. Here recently I got the notion to get it back out and start playing with it being my schedule has freed up somewhat. I bought a injection pump from a friend and got her back on the road. Replaced some hoses and other things that were to be expected being it sat so long.. The truck is a automatic I have found complete setup to go to 5 speed ..I would like to make this truck in the 300or so hp range any suggestions would be great... Looking forward to your help. Thanks a bunch. Ky over an out

First supporting mods I would personally do:
Piston lift pump (I recommend The Hungry Diesel), HX35 turbo, and pyrometer.

3200 gov. spring, THD fuel pin, 2-3 turn on the fuel screw and advancing the timing (plus the above) will probably have you in the 280-300 rwhp neighborhood.

And that'd be with a 5 speed. with an auto you'd be around 240-250 at the wheels

The pump I just installed I got from my neighbor it is a bd pump suppose to have the gov spring and 40 hp fuel pin in it already.. Already have gauges installed. Need a different turbo for sure temp goes to 1400 degrees in a sec with full pedal.. Going to put full 4" exhaust next week. I've been looking for a turbo on Craigslist nothing has poped up yet.. Thanks for your thaughts

An HX35 will be ok if you do go with a manual, it wouldn't be well suited if you stayed with an auto. HE351 off a stock 05.5-07 cummins would be even better, and has a 4" outlet to match your new 4" piping

You have all the fuel on tap (with your stock injectors) needed for 300, you should only need the air and piston pump to get there. And you could do it without the piston pump, but it would shorten the life of your new IP.

A dirty 400 could probably be attained for around $3k, but I'd rather someone making 400 post there experience. In case you haven't noticed, your getting info from a guy making 180 at the wheels :D
