real name and general location in profile

Postby DTanklage » Tue Feb 12, 2008 12:12 am

one of the motorcycle racing forums i frequent is finally getting around to doing it and i suggest 1stgen.org does it before they have 5k members!

it is nice to be able to click on someones profile and see a) who you are talking to b) what part of the country (or world) they are in c) how old (or young) this person is that you are talking to and d) what they are in to

the last two are not going to be mandatory on the site i was referring to but i wish they were

I wouldn't be against it either. Most of us have our location in our Profile box. Or what ever that little info box is on the left of our posts. :D

i didnt realize this forum doesnt have a provision for 'real name' in the profile

or a 'date of birth' or at least 'year of birth'

never mind

Don, the good thing about that is nobody can look and see if you're young and dumb, or just old and dumb!
I don't mean you personally! ;)

Kinda reminds me of when Don wanted KTA's name.

I dont see what difference it makes. If you want to put the info out there, you can. If you want to remain anonymous, you can do that, too. Must be my libertarian leanings- let me be, and I'll do the same for you.

prolly doesnt make any diff on this site

everyone is pretty mellow

some of the guys on some of the other sites (drag racing sites) get all crazy

i think that is why they made it mandatory

if you really want, and there are enough people, we could put together a 911 type list where you have to be a "member" of the group to get in, and then have contact info there. that way you have access to peoples info when you're on a road trip or something.
