Just out of curiosity has anyone attempted using 06 style axles under a first gen. Specifically dually axles. I have been tossing around the idea of a 4wd swap for years now but finding good first gen axles is getting really tough here in AZ. Also, the addition of disc brakes in the rear would be great. What would it take to upgrade the first gen brake system to handle the addition of discs in the rear? Are the axles the same width? I know it would take lots of fab work and that fine. If I did decide to go this route I would definitely swap to a 47rh or maybe even 47re or 48 in order to get the driver side dump on the tcase. Also open to other axles that are easy to come by that may work. Just looking for some opinions. What would be the major hurdles other than fabricating new suspension?
