Door light switches

Postby Bschwarzli » Mon Nov 02, 2009 6:38 am

I am having issues getting door light switches that activate the interior lights when the door is open.

I picked up a set from NAPA and they dont fit! They are too long. Tried Dodge and they no longer sell them.

Only thing I can think of is that my crew cab cab is off of a 1980 and my doors are from a 1993. Would that cause an issue? Do I need the 70's style door plungers?

Thanks!

I don't know what you mean by to long, but I suspect you are not being rough enough with them. The switches are designed to "self set" thier depth. The nut that screws into the body has a sleeve pressed into it that positions the switch. Just slam the door once and they will be set to the correct depth. This is assuming you have the factory style switch.

Yes, it is a factory switch. And you very well could be right.

When I close the door, I get the door enough that I have it open about 3-4 inches and I can see the button (for lack of a better word) bottoming out on the nut. As in it cannot depress anymore as it has no where to go.

Does that make any sense?
