tailgate broke!

Postby charbles » Sat Sep 15, 2007 9:57 am

One of the studs where the tailgate swings down on the body broke clean off yesterday. I'm looking for a cheap fix, but if anybody can hook me up with a flatbed, I'd really flip :P . Any suggestions?

If it is really rotted, weld on a piece of pipe. I did that on my '75, worked great!

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

When I converted my 91 to drw, the bed I bought had a pipe welded to it, just like Pete said. Simple and effective.

Pickup a 3/4"x4" pipe nipple. Cut the threaded ends off and weld it on. That mount has a good heavey base plate under it.

Is that the rt side that is broken off on yours?

Can somebody post a pic of their fix? Mine wasn't on the truck when I got it, just a bungie cord.
