Driveshaft length and yoke size

Postby 1990 » Thu Oct 27, 2011 5:06 am

Anybody know if the rear drive shafts are the same on 3 speed auto and Getrag trucks?

What is the size of the yokes on the NP205 and D70? D70 is a 1990 and NP205 is a 29 spline from 1993.

4x4 Reg. cab long box.

I looking to get one made up.

Thanks

Yes the getrag and 727 use the same drive shafts.

agreed the shafts are the same length.

yoke size of the d70 is a 29 spline 1410, rear yoke on the np205 is a 1410 32 spline

No problem. d60/d70 share the same yoke splines (with same seal), as do the front/rear outputs on the np205(but different seals).

what are you getting made for a drive shaft? thicker tube? regular 1piece drive shaft tubes are super thin, expecially if they have any rust

I need to get a rear drive shaft made up for my 4wd conversion. I measured one from a 4x4 727 truck just too get the length.

I going to call a drive-line shop tonight and see what they can do. I want a one piece shaft with the slip joint, like the stock ones.

When you swapped in the Getrag from the 727 you didn't have any problems with the rear driveshaft? Could you get a measurement of yours?

I think i measured 59 1/2 or 60 inches can't remember which.

I'm going to get one made from a club cab rear driveshaft.
