front end alignment

do you have to go to a specialty shop to get a big dually aligned. I put on a tie rod end and I think it should have an alignment to save my tires.

Normally if they can do a SRW 3/4ton, they can do a dually. Dont be surprised if they want to charge an extra $10 for putting 2 adaptors on (shops will do anything for a buck these days), though. Some dont, though. ALso be sure to ask what the shop set them to (number, not just "factory specs"), and compare it to the FSM recommendations.

I agree, I put mine as close to straight as possible with a little tow in. There's no other adjustments on a 4X4, unless you start buying offset bushings for the "kingpins".

2wd however, I know nothing about.

Not true Daniel.
My son just bought an alignmernt rack specifically so he could align duallys. He got away with doing some of them on his old machine, but he wasn't supposed to put a dually on it. The machine didn't have the nads to lift them all.
Best is to ask specifically if they can handle a dually. Around here, most cannot.

I have to take my D250 to an OTR truck /frame shop for alignment. The local that service the Honda Civic cannot lift my rigs.

Most of them around the Poplar Bluff area had no lift- just drive up a ramp to about 18" off the ground, and they hook up the stuff and see what needs to move where. I assumed if they could do a 6000# 3/4ton, they could to a 6000# dually.

some of the older machine's wheel adapters would not clear a dually's front wheel. if the shop cheaped out and bought a machine just to do cars and light duty trucks, thats what they got.

most modern machines have the capability to enter the VIN# and print out before and after readings. a compotent shop will be willing to give you the printouts. if they have the ability and still won't show you, be afraid, be very afraid :? .

i'm lucky in that i get mine done at work :) , i'm not so lucky in that my suspension tech is not so good
