Postby BAD HABIT » Wed Nov 09, 2011 8:53 pm

Not sure where i should post this, but here goes.I have an 89 12v short bed 4x4 on 17-40 ground hawgs it has no mods as of now,but have plans on i/c,upgraded turbo, stage 2 fuel pin,gov spring, and maybe injectors, and a billet convertor.I have 4.10s in the front and was gonna chance the rear to 4.10s also, but befor i do that i want to know if 4.10s will be low enough with the 40s?I will be driving it around town but i will also be using it to tow a bumper pull,or small goose neck trailer with extender cab ranger on 2.5 tons.WHAT GEARS SHOULD I GO WITH??? Thank u in advance.

tow smart and it will work.(depending on what turbo you get) i have a 90 with an intercooler from a 97 and i find it hard to tow much anything over 14000lbs (truck trailer) with the pump turned all the way up, recently towed 24000lbs fuel screw backed out from runaway about 1,1/2 to 2 turns and could still get in upwards of 1300-1400 degrees if i wanted to get up to speed fairly quick
also truck has 4:11 in it, only couple hundred rpms diference
1990 dodge W250 cummins 6 speed. 4in diamond eye, a turbo,and a pump :D
Under construction...

you dont have 4.10's front and back? ...be carefull with that

I might think of anintercooler for your 89 it would cool down your towing temps and you can keep the 4.10's

Well 4.10's running a 727 and 40" tires should run 2365RPM's at 65. A truck running 3.55's and a 727 should cruise at 2582RPM on stock 235's. I think you will be ok.

No problem. I'll link a couple sites that I use to figure that stuff.
