A coworker recently installed an Autometer alternator tach, 2888, in his truck. The instructions say to calibrate it. How does one go about doing that?

I want to stop relying on my stock 1983 oil psi and temp gauges. I have a dash pod now, and a pillar pod sitting in my garage. I'm thinking of adding autometer oil pressure and water temp gauges. Where are the good spots on the motor to tap into it? I'd like to leave the stock ones functional, so I can see how far off they are. If thats not possible, I can do without the stockers.
