Heater Valve

Postby Black93 » Mon Jan 09, 2012 1:11 pm

Does anybody know where to get a new one? No parts stores or even the dealer site that I buy from list it. Mine's leaking bad & it's one of the few things that I don't have a spare for.

Can you by-pass it for now so you have heat and no leak?

I thought about that, but after some checking everyone lists it for a gasser. I don't see any reason that their would be a difference.

If you could compare the two side by side, and there aren't any differences, I'd run it ;)

Some guys run a ball valve with barbs on both ends to fit into the hose. When it gets cold, you open the valve to allow the coolant to circulate in the cab. In summer time, just close the valve and the coolant stays out of the cab.

I'd be concerned that the gasser valve would need more vaccum to open, but i have no idea

That's what I was thinking too, a pair of ball valves. I dunno about the gasser valve needing more vacuum to open or not either :? I guess one could do some digging and find out how much vacuum each truck produces at idle, gasser vs. CTD and go from there...

For $13 I'm gonna try the gasser valve. If for some reason it doesn't act right, I'll put a ball valve in it.
