Vent window seals?

Postby Diesel » Tue Mar 20, 2012 8:09 pm

Where can I find new vent window seals? They are leaking. I have seriously replaced everything rubber on this truck trying to stop the leaks!

I dont need seals for the actual windows. I need seals for the triangle vent windows that rotate open.

I just picked up a full set to do both windows. Is there a trick to getting the upper and back seals out? Is there a clip..or screw? I know how to get the felt scraper out...shoot, they are almost falling out now as it is! LOL

I was told these will fit as well and are only $45 for both sides. I'll order a pair and report back. Whistle is often caused by a failing locking mechanism though and if the lock is bad, rubber seals won't help much.

As in my locks aren't holding tight enough? Would you say they should be replaced or a spacer put under them? Can I still get new one?

The spacer might work for a while, but I read a good thread on rebuilding them and actually fixing the problem. Replacement is best if they look anything like mine. I found some at the junkyard that seem functional and I'm going to switch them out. I'll try to find that link and post it here.

Do you actually use the vent windows? I do not. I used urethane like for a windshield and glued mine shut. No whistle and no leaks....

I love my vent windows! I found out that my major leak is actually my missing bushing on the door hinge letting water in at the bottom. Going to first rebush the hinges and see where I'm at.
