I know a couple of people that have had those kits. They work all right. The bad news is you rear bumper has to be attached to the bed. If not when the bed tips up the first time. It will be toast. Also you would need a very long slide in for a reese hitch. The hitch would need to be mounted about 12" farther forward from its normal mounting point.

They mention the bumper but the hitch issue makes this impossible for me. =/

I looked at the ad and it seemed kind of flimsy to me. The kit weighs 180 lbs! That's not much metal to be lifting 2 tons. The other thing is, I find it hard to believe it fits down in between the box and frame and nothing has to be cut or removed.
Just my .02.

You can tell they are under there. The ones i have seen lift the bed a quarter to half inch throwing off all body lines. They struggle to lift a bed full of wet mulch also.

I am fitting a dump bed kit from Pierce Sales. The bumper will not fit because it would collide with the hitch when you raise the bed to dump. Adapting the bumper to fit to the bed instead of the frame may be possible but it will be a nuisance dumping. The bumper is far too heavy to attach to the sheet metal of the bed anyway. As a hack I thought of attaching it to the receiver of the hitch. That way it is easy to remove. It would wobble badly and look awful too?
I suspect it will be better to just attach some lightweight (legal looking) 'bumperettes' to the bed and provide a mount for the license plate and plate lights.
Photos to follow eventually.

not to mention our beds aren't the stoutest. i think regular use would show the bed deforming, or coming apart at the seams

Just be careful to order AND CONFIRM you get the right kit 162/8" or 17" .

The kit was a disaster. It is really an adapted Chevy kit. I remade/redesigned/bought lots of parts. The final product works well but I advise strongly against buying it unless you have good fabrication skills and lots of time.
There is a photo of the truck with the dump raised in my post "Cranks won't start....
