That is a good number for a double lip seal. I got two on the workbench at home. They aren't a "two piece" seal, just a standard wheel seal.

AWESOME! I just ordered one and will report back results. I got the 370150A seal which looks to be the two piece in the picture.

Does anyone know what the torque on the spindle hub nut is supposed to be for the Dana 70? I don't have a FSM and have just tightened it but this time around I'd like to use a torque wrench.

120-140 ftlbs, then back it off 1/3 of a turn ;)

Diesel, that seal in the 2nd link, the one you ordered, is the one. Make sure you install it dry, if you lube it it will slip on the spindle and won't seal right.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Sometimes the "2 piece" seals are called "hand installed" seals. No diver needed. I don't use drivers anyhow. Just a block of wood works fine.

I had no idea I had to back it off after getting it tight. Sorta scares me but if that's what the fsm says then ill do it!

Great info in here!!! I have been dealing with the same issue on my right rear seal. Gonna have to try these National Unitized seals out. I take it the correct part number is 370150A? Thanks again!

If the weather cooperates I'll be doing this install shortly (maybe Saturday) so I can report back!

Can I reuse the spindle nut (I only have 1 not 2) if I put in a new lock tab?

Haha, what's up man! Ya still kicking. Got me a first gen now, and working on it. How you been? And Diesel, looking forward to your feedback on the seal. I'm not sure about the nylock nut, personally I wouldn't reuse it unless that's your only option. Even with a new lock in there.

Well I have one 2 piece seal and 1 new nut...but I have 2 leaky wheels! So I guess I'll just do one side and see how it goes.

I've reused them a few times in the past and haven't had a hub come loose. as we speak the crewcab and my 4wd have reused nuts. Haven't had a change in preload. That said... its like brake calipers, I've been able to push 95% of them back in with out one hanging....but I had one hang on my van and had to redo the front brakes again. so you might get lucky or you might not. its a calulated risk.

^^^Good point!

If you can afford it get a new nut, if not just slap it back on there and try to put the lock in a different spot would be my guess. Looking forward to hearing the review on the seal.

Funny thing is, I put that new seal in on mine a week or so ago. It leaked for a day afterwards, and now it hasn't leaked since. Even checked the fluid level and it's still spot on. So I dunno. But I am gonna get some of these seals and just have em on the shelf for next time. Maybe when I do the rear brakes I will swap the seals out too.
