Dana 60 lockout hub

Postby Farmboy » Thu Dec 27, 2012 5:15 pm

I had the truck in to get some work done on the front wheel bearings. While the guy had it apart he said the front left lockout was all broke out inside. Where can I buy a repair kit for the lockout?

Is there a good place to get parts from them?

Any auto parts store can get them. Oreillys stocks them, part number 11690.

Warn makes a rebuild kit, but without knowing what actual part needs replaced, it's a crapshoot. I have enough spare parts to "make" four hubs, but most of the stuff is hodge-podge. Two of the "inner" large parts are of an earlier design, so some of the parts don't interchange, but most do. See if you can get a picture of what is broken, hate to see ya spend $240 on a pair of new Warns or $150 on some Mile Markers. If it's something small, I can dig through the box and I can give it to ya ;)

He said the back of it where the snap ring is supposed to go is all broke out.. and he said something about an aluminum dust shield too. I have never had one apart. I will take it apart tomorrow and snap some pics.

I see nothing broken, but there is a small retaining screw, snap rings, and a large spring missing from the picture...but the major pieces look like they are in great shape.

Yep there was the retaining screw in there... a large snap ring on the outside of the hub, a small snap ring on the axle shaft (on the outside of the lockout assy) and the spring was in there too..

The only thing that made me wonder was there was nothing in the snap ring groove on the back side of the center gear that is in the middle of the picture.. is there supposed to be something in there?

maybe I will tear the other side apart and see what it looks like.. maybe he said left side but meant right side.

There is supposed to be a snap ring on the back side of that center gear, that's what holds it on the large inner part of the assembly...

Yeah it did not come apart in one assembly.. it came out in pieces... So there was nothing holding the whole thing together..
