Check the vacuum pressure first.
Hard pedal is usually vacuum related.

There is a vac line hanging not sure where it goes. The bosster is hooked up so is the line fro. The ps pump up and the other goes to some lil doo hickey on the inner fender.

if a vac line in not hooked up at all, that could be the problem. not allowing the system to actually receive vaccuum

How big is it? There is a small one, about 3/16", for the heater controls.
Any bigger and it could have been for an accessory that's no longer there.
Just plug it off and see if you have better brakes.

Plug the hose and see if your brakes work better?

Yea I had that same problem on mine when someone broke the sombitch off lol

That line goes to what is called a vacuum switch on the inner fender like you were saying.
It took me forever to find the info on that damn switch but basically it sends a signal to either the ABS module or the computer (don't remember which) to allow vacuum to the booster and allow your pedal to work like it should...(again im not sure that's accurate because it had been awhile since I read it).
The switch mechanism was made by EATON and NOBODY makes a replacement for them as I had found out and I had to figure a way out to fix the switch myself. Hope this helps!

To the rest of you gurus out there...my truck is having similar issues with the break pedal being spongey and when I pump it, it would work better but not be cured. I have let my truck sit for awhile since trying to find a dang battery for it :bh: ....after I FINALLY found something that will power it :rambo: I went for a drive last night and the brakes worked MUCH better. Went for a longer drive later and it started having the problem again little by little until it was very obvious.

I had my rear brakes adjusted a little less than a year ago the week I had gotten a new master cylinder and don't think they would need adjusting again so soon. Also no ABS light. everything was working just fine on my truck until I came up here in the dang snow and cold weather FML. Who can help?
