As I understand it, there is a potential of collapsing them.

Ellis, I measured mine tonite, about 3.5 inches from tire to fender lip with a full tank of fuel and the truck is leaning to the drivers side where it is parked.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

What size tire Pete? That makes a difference on the 'gap'. I wonder if a 'longer' wheel base has an affect on ride height after the 7226S springs.. I put a set under my crew cab, with 235's, barely made a difference on ride height. Certainly not as much as Pete's, which I've seen in person a number of times. I've got a 88 D350 cab/chassis with a 12 foot dump bed, it needs new coils up front. With a load, the 235's will rub if driving over a rough surface. This pic is with 6.9 ton in the bed, a little over 21k gross. "Sliiiightly" over weight  ..

I don't know how it affects the 7226s springs, but wheelbase in GENERAL affects the ride height of the front end.
As the wheelbase gets longer, the load is centered more forward, towards the front axle, at some point the load on the front axle can equal the load on the rear, but remember, the front axle is only supposed to carry somewhere at 65% of what the rear does.

If you look at this behemoth, it is a prime example of how people can build something not realizing it's too light duty for it's potential capabilities.
Now, granted, it was originally built with a 360/NP445 back in the early '80s, so one can excuse the fact that they didn't figure on an engine/tranny combo that weighs ~ 1000 pounds MORE than the OEM combo.

Pete you know whats bad.....my truck is saging and it has the same clearance as yours

I bought these springs from jc Whitney and they're for plow service or for trucks with heavy crap hanging off the front. I might just take the ad a leaf out of the rear.....fwiw there's like 11" of wheel space over my rear tires
