D250 wheel options w/o stud swap

Postby ep732 » Sun Mar 31, 2013 4:59 pm

Im looking for a change in looks from my stock steel wheels, 235/85/16s, and full hubcaps. What would be the easiest upgrade in wheels/tires without swapping the studs? Is there maybe a stock steelie thats an inch wider that would bolt right up? Anyone ever run 245/75/16s on their stock rims?

I've ran 245s,only because my truck sagged really bad. They fit fine on factory wheels. I also have some aftermarket wheels on my truck now and the only problem I've had with them was on the front studs. They have a shank on them that protrudes out about 1/8",that kept my wheels from sitting against the hub. I didn't catch that until I had driven the truck for about 30miles and heard a lug smack the wheel well as I was turning. No good, the pucker factor was high in the drivers seat on the return home. To remedy this I used a 5/8 drill bit and made the rear of the holes bigger but not over and 1/8 deep.
If I had bought my wheels from a decent company I might have had luck returning them instead of moding them

I Have 305/40/22's on one of my 93's and on the other i have 285-65-18's, My suggestion would be to find wheels on craigslist, Since you have a d250 wheels from fords up to '97 should fit as well as H2's, chevy\gmc trucks untill i believe '09, and dodges still have the same bolt pattern, so there are lots of choices, so far the best offset for me as been the ones that came off an H2. Also when i got my truck it had, 1 245/75/16, 1 265/75/16, 1 235/80/16, and 1 235/85/16, and i have had 285/75/16's on the stock steelies. so there are lots of options.

here is a pic with the 22's that came off an H2
