If you want a sissy ride, buy a Chevy! They were always the soft ride trucks. Good enough to get groceries with, but that's about it!

Guys, our trucks don't have to ride the way they do.

None of the newer trucks ride any worse than a caddy (well you get the idea) and they can carry WAY WAY more than our trucks can, and handle WAY WAY WAY WAY better than ours do.

It's the fact that we have the newest model of 80 year old technology. They stopped using the suspension we have in our trucks.............yes, our trucks were the last model that dodge ever made with our HORRIBLE suspension.

It's just how much money we feel like spending to make it better............and I do use better losely, as I too am not a fan of the 9 billion link suspension of the newer trucks............but there are nicer styles of leaf springs out there.

I greased up all my spring eye bushings and put 5psi more pressure in the front tires (55/50) and took it for a drive, seems to ride a bit smoother again. It is warmer out to though so that might have something to do with it.

It just doesn't make sense to me how the superdutys can ride they way they do. I mean its still leaf spring but its a bit better in my opinion.

Im not looking for my truck to ride like a Cadillac, and I have come to realize that other things with my truck may be aiding in the lesser ride quality than normal( body mounts, shock, ect)

What do you guys use for shocks? i was looking at the bilstiens but man are they a pretty penny.

I have Bilsteins on the front of mine, it rides decent. The rear is the harsh end. I got them from EShocks.com or something like that. I thought they were priced reasonable compared to other places.

Yup, the rear is by far where the majority of the harshness comes from. I think the only real cure is longer leafs, 52" is just too short. I am looking at going to 56-62".

I was thinking about getting slightly longer leafs for when I rebuild my truck too.

replaced the middle cab mounts and boy did that make a big difference. There is less of a harsh impact from rough roads. shocks are on order, hopefully I can get it riding a bit better. alcan quoted me 550 for front leaf packs

The more i drive my truck loaded and unloaded, the more i feel the rear springs are the culprit more so than the front. I have alcans all around and the rears just don't give. They flex the first inch or two and then its like concrete and only the tires/seat are doing any suspension work. I think longer length rears are the ticket but they take more work.

A longer leaf pack will help, but requires some fabbing. A friend of mine copied his dads keldedman stage2 kit for the rear of his truck, and that thing rides nice. He has a set of firestone ride rites as well for when he tows. The fronts on these trucks ride ok as far as I'm concerned. My dads 01' superduty rides a bit better, yet has longer springs.
For my truck I removed 2/5 springs in my rear pack, and 1/5 in the front. This made for a better ride, but still no caddy status.
