Wanting to bypass RAWL

Postby 1992gen1_fan » Thu Sep 12, 2013 5:33 pm

Hello, I'm thinking about buying a short piece of brake line and bypassing the RWAL valve unit mounted on the frame above the rear axle. I'm sure I've read something about doing this but can't seem to find any info on it. Tired of bad brakes, I think the RWAL might be interfering with the rear brakes even though the wires are disconnected.

Has anyone here done this? Any tips? Looks like the in/out lines to the unit are different size. What adapters are needed?

Thanks in advance :D

Ok, thanks for the link. I should have searched "abs" instead of RWAL. Stopping by the parts store for some fittings tomorrow :D

I didn't need any fittings, just hooked the RWAL inlet line to the rubber line going to the axle...no special fittings needed.

^ I did'nt think of that. I bought 2 fittings at the local parts store today. I'll install them some time soon. Thanks for the replies.

Mine wouldn't do that, two very dissimilar fittings.

I got the 2 lines put together a few minutes ago. The fittings listed in the link worked :D

^ X2 a thread adapter is needed. ;)

If you replace the line from the front to rear it will screw right into the hose. The factory lines have weird fittings on them, replacement lines will hook right up to the hose.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

I got the brakes bled, the rear wheels will skid on gravel if I stomp the brake pedal now. The pedal is still spongy as it was before though. I will bleed the brakes a couple more times this week, putting a few miles on it in between. I'm hoping there is just some air in there somwhere.
