Leveling Kit?

Postby 89dudney » Mon Nov 04, 2013 9:11 am

Is there any companies that make a leveling kit for a first gen? My truck has overload springs on the back and then some. I would like to possibly make it sit a little more "level".

He's got a W250. There are alot of different companies out here that offer a 2" or so lift for the front of our trucks, i.e. Skyjacker, Tuff Country, etc. Alcan can make you a set, but the shipping is spendy.

What's wrong with the frame? I thought that truck was a virgin, unmolested farm truck? Oops, I forgot you can't use virgin and unmolested in the same sentence with farm truck. ;)

But remember, it's a Midwest truck, if its made it 20+ years, I bet it's got it's share of rot...just like my W350 did ;)

No, the frame has not been fixed yet. Pete, the frame is rotted practically clear through in between the frame rail and fuel tank. I have a couple leaf spring hangers that could fly off at any time.

Fix it! Shoot, what a lot of us would give to have a shop like the one you have access to...a hoist, crane, heat and a/c!?!?! Heck, all I got is a busted up pad of concrete to work on...outside. Get the structural and driveability issues dealt with first before you go hog wild with go-fast and wiz-bang stuff ;)

Its not that I am too lazy to fix the truck or the problems it has. I started another project that hasnt been finished yet, and dads deal was I finish one before another one comes into the shop. Trust me, if I could be working on it right now, I probably wouldnt have replied to this right now. Haha

Ike, IPhone. ;) What I would do is cut that section of the frame out and splice another one in.
Mine was getting thin on the bottom flange so I dosed it with rust killer and slobbered paint on it.

Find a good section of frame from some sort of donor, measure, measure, measure again, cut the new piece, measure twelve more times, cut out the rusted piece on yours, and weld in the non-rusty piece. Paint and go!
