I'm pretty sure my truck has all raybestos parts. After I warped the fronts, and had to redo them I actually bled them. She stopped pretty good after that

I guess I'll try the dealer ship next. Seems like local parts stores only sell china sthi. Both sets of drums I have put on we're out of round. I hate starting of with junk.

Just tell NAPA you need a brake small parts kit for your axle. It will have all the springs and self adjuster cables in it.

When doing a brake job leave nothing to chance. The only old part I leave inside a brake drum is the arm for the E brake connection. Replace everything else. Turn new drums. Remember the person that did it first is probably low pay and doesn't know his job or care.

Why even bother with those stupid drums? For 650 bucks you'll never have to worry about your rear brakes again, other than wear parts. Or if you don't need the parking brake it's only 450.

Why the drums? Go ask those 80's chev guys how the parking brake works on those types of calipers, they don't last long.

I have had rear discs on my '80 k30 but didn't need a parking brake since it was an auto. Us std folks need a good parking brake.

Until they come out with a kit that uses the small drum e-brake inside the rotor like the newer vehicles i will not own a rear disc truck.

Has anyone ever perfected the parking/emergency brake cable hookup issue on the disc brake D80's?

I know they suck, my little brother had an 02 and it couldn't hold itself on any sort of an incline.

The only other option is a driveline ebrake but i do not think they are legal.

??????????? The only vehicle that I have ever had that didn't have a good e brake is a 1st gen truck. My 2003 disc brake had phenomenal e braking capabilities.

Only issue I worry about going disc.... does it apply the correct pressure to front and back? If I can get a good answer on that, they would already be on my truck.

If you were to get everything from the master cylinder back there'd be absolutely no issues, and you'd know you have all new stuff

You can easily reduce the pressure to the rear (most likely needed) with a proportioning valve, Unless you can fit the proper MC as mentioned above.

My drums started locking up faster than i liked (on wet/loose roads) since the 3" wide shoes and larger wheel cylinder, i have thought about a prop. valve for it.

RC, Dodge went to AAM axles in 2003, probably a little bit better of a parking brake on those axles than the disc brake Dana 80 I'd guess.

BILTIT, If the company that made drive line brakes that I looked at made a flange for a 1410 joint, I'd be all for it...but the larges they make is 1350. Here in the states driveline brakes are legal on medium duty trucks, I would guess they'd be legal on light duty stuff...and I live in Iowa...no vehicle inspections here

So one just needs to get a proportioning valve from a disc brake truck? Do we have an adjustable proportioning valve on ours?

You could swap to a 1350 output yoke/flange and run a 1350/1410 combo joint. I have to run one for my GV, they only offer a 1350 yoke.

I have more problems with the 1410 joint at the axle than the combo joint. I have pulled 12K for over 3000kms without issues but a 1410 would give me a bigger warm and fuzzy feeling for sure.
