cab over camper questions

Postby jmd4993 » Tue Mar 25, 2014 7:43 am

I have a 92 w250 5spd and I'm putting a flatbed on it shortly. I also. Am gonna be putting a cab over camper on it. I'm moving to Montana and will prob be living out of it for a while, while going to school. I was thinking of getting rear helper bags on it. But I'm just wondering anything else I should do to the truck before putting the camper on and heading west.

any info is greatly appreciated thanks

Brakes good? I never pulled a trailer until recently because my brakes would barely stop just my bare truck.

While you're in there, check and tighten your wheel bearings to spec. Grease your u-joints and steering joints. Obviously check all fluids, and chuck a couple gallons of each in the back just in case. I was carrying 2 gallons each of water and oil on my trip.

Dar will chime in soon. If your going flatbed switch to duals on the rear. The added stability will be night and day. They are very top heavy and love to sway in the wind.

A Hellwig (or any good quality) rear sway bar could help a lot too.

I got 5000lb air bags with the onboard air system. I also got a hellwig sway bar. I'm redoing my brakes all the way around as well.
