Bilstein 5100 shocks

Postby hemislave » Wed Apr 30, 2014 6:45 pm

HI evryone, can anyone tell me the exact part#s for the 5100 bilsteins? I ordered the parabolic springs from Carrier Spring Service, and I"m probably gonna need longer schocks. Thanks in advance! :) I should specify these are the front shocks...

I got on a website that had all the specifics for the 5100's and found some that were about 2-4" longer than stock. Just had to dig through all of them and compared them to the stock height units.

No problem. With my 2" lift i run the -542's up front and the -569's in the rear but i would measure to be sure.

Biltit- did you have to change bushings or anything? Or were they a direct bolt on?

Direct bolt-on.....sorta. The rubbers are a 1/16" on the small side (ID) if i recall, i greased them and used a hammer to get them to pop over the stud.

I put shocks on something and drove the bushing out so the rubber was right on the stud. Never had a problem with it.

Put mine on tonight... I just drilled the rubber out a little bit.

I'm honestly not that impressed. My heavy ass truck apparently needs more... You know how you rock the vehicle and are supposed to have like 1.5 rolls? With my old completely worn out pos Skyjacker shocks, I had 8 rolls  .

With the Bilstein shocks, I still have about 4 rolls back and forth  .

The ride is better on the street, but its actually worse on dirt roads with pot holes.
