Steering Box

Need a new steering box. Mines pour fluid out. Any upgrades out there? any other stuff I should look to do at the same time?

I don't believe there's an upgraded box. I think all you'll find are rebuilt units from your local auto parts store.
If your truck is 4x4, you'll want to look carefully at the frame around where the box bolts to the truck. Well known issue with cracked frames. Good time to weld up the cracks, and reinforce as need

Over on DTR I've seen mention of a "redhead" steering box, which I believe is a factory box remanned by a company specializing in such things. I never dug too much into it, may be worth a check if you want to spend some $$.

I have heard there is a place to get a frame reinforcement kit. Anyone know where that might be? I use this truck primarily for towing and on some rough roads so I'd like the piece of mind having it reinforced.

I have one of the redhead boxes on mine, only had it for a couple months and cant speak for longevity but it's miles better then the old leaking box that was on it before.

Just read the second part of your post; these guys sell a reproduction of the factory reenforcing bracket which can also be found on on some mid 80's trucks.

Jim from Ramcharger central also has a frame boxing kit that may work as well.

I bought a Red Head box a couple years ago, really seems like a nice box, the people are good to deal with also, truck drives nice with it.
