Cab swaps / floor differences ?? . AC vs. Non- AC
Since I am getting ready to do some cab swapping I guess it’s time to ask. How many different transmission HUMPS are there to deal with. Both of the nice cabs I bought have the lowest hump and were from 2WD trucks. See I did 73-87 GM trucks for many years and the floor was nearly the same other than a BOLT IN center hump for all trucks with heavy duty 4speed trans and all 4WD trucks. I just wonder did Dodge use MANY different floors because of the LONG diesel engines coming rearward in the engine bay or is it just a floor hump thing. I’m replacing a Cummins /Getrag 4x4 cab, and a 1/2 ton 4x4 gasser cab, but that one does have the HD 4 speed. . I know how to cut and overlap it’s just that I’m hoping that’s all there is to it. Also on the GM trucks the whole firewall was different between an A/C truck and a Non A/C truck. Any info there. I can tell you that the swapping and dismantling I have done on the Dodges is much simpler than the GM trucks and way less fussy than any Ford I’ve done. Thanx for any help. Crossy

Dodge had two. The 2wd auto trucks had a small trans hump. 2wd manual, 4wd auto and 4wd manual all used larger trans humps. All club cabs had large trans humps, along wih all crew cabs. I'm not 100% on the differences between a/c, non a/c firewalls...I believe they are the same, just the hvac box is different...maybe. I used a 2wd auto cab when I re-bodied my 91, I used a floor section out of another cab...just found the areas that came out the same and spliced the large hump into the cab. Currently it's screwed and sealed in place.

As far as I can tell the cabs are the same with or without ac. My 83 didn't have ac but I just used the 93 ac box and dash it all bolted in.

thanks fellas- that's exactly what I had hoped to hear. I WISH my 03 was half this easy.
I need to do the entire blend door on it before winter and NOT looking forward to that at all. Crossy
