Upgrade master cylinder ?

Postby 1992gen1_fan » Sun Jul 27, 2014 6:28 am

Hello, looking for some input on upgrade brake master cylinders for stock/non hydro. I have literally lost count of the times I've replaced the master cyl on my truck over the years. They either fail internally of the cap will leak. Of course these I've replaced are crap re-man junk (don't buy a part store re-man, waste of time and money) but I've read about even brand new MC's leaking at the cap, I think they use the wrong type of rubber or something.

I do have a brand new MC to replace the re-man thats leaking now but if it starts leaking I don't think I want to put another stock one on. I'm tired of randomly losing my brakes..

Is there a different type that is a direct replacement with a plastic reservoir or something?

There are no "direct" replacements that I have read about. I went through the same thing and finally bought a new master. If I have to do it again, I will do the hydro boost and rear disc conversion.

Maybe I'll bite the bullet and do the hydro boost conversion. Looks like thats the best way to get a plastic reservoir. Time do do some research

I replaced the 20 something year old stocker with a new Bendix unit. Very pleased with it. Hydro boost is still a good option though.
