Steering Column Shift Indicator Arm

Postby Craig229 » Tue Feb 24, 2015 10:26 pm

I own a 1992 Cummins 4X4 W250 with an automatic transmission. My problem is the shift indicator in the cluster doesn't work. I removed the cluster and found the PRND21 is in tact. I found the bracket/arm the indicator cable attaches to, that is riveted to the column, has been broken off.

My questions are, whats the name of that arm? Can I buy just the arm, and where? Any ideas on making one? Anyone have a good picture of one?

Side note, I called a local dealer in Vancouver WA and was given part #52077714 for the repair kit that is no longer available.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Have a local junkyard? Go take one off a truck there. Any truck from the 80's up to '93 should be the same, probably vans too.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Thanks for the idea. Good to know the columns are all the same for those years.

I spoke to another dealer and the gal was nice enough to email me some photos of the bracket/arm. I made one out of some flat stock and it works great.

Off to the next repair...
