Aftermarket suspension 2wd?

Postby boomerbabe » Tue Jun 02, 2015 8:21 pm

Hi guys. I've become quite familiar with the front suspension of our trucks....d250 d350 ball joints control arms...centerlink - etc...

Love my truck but not thrilled about having the redo my front end every 5 years....

It comes down to control arms...and springs...
Are their ANY companies that make better control arms? Im on the verge to convert my 2wd to 4wd...just to avoid the stock front end.

You do that and you lose the ride IMHO.

There was a guy on Facebook who was going to build tubular A-arms. I don't know what became of that.

Look at the 80's 1-ton Chev suspension. That's about as tough an A-arm setup as I've ever seen. No rubber bushings. Control arm shafts are metal-bushed and greasable. Uses Dana 60 brake calipers too.

The frame is ~2" narrower though... but I've considered splitting the GM crossmember, patching the middle up, and sleeve the center link.
