Hydraboost installed, WOW

Postby swank » Sun Jul 05, 2015 5:18 pm

Another busy day in the shop got hydraboost installed. Almost TOO much braking now!! Anybody know of a way to ease it up at all, or adjust it in any way? I'm sure I will get used to it, I'm just worried about towing and whatnot. Seems like it'll be pretty easy to lock everything up, even with the 19.5s!

What was your system from, and what hoses and parts did you use?

I bought the parts so long ago, I can't remember. I THINK a second gen dodge?? I used all the hoses and misc parts from the same vehicle. Bought it all on eBay.

Just drilled two new holes on the driver side for the stock mount, no changes to connector rod. I'll have to get some pics up. Did find some reading about shortening the connecting rod so it's closer to the go pedal height. I'll try that first and see how it feels. Might be a lot better when I don't have to hold my whole leg in the air to brake...

I have a unit off a 2000 cummins truck. I was thinking of getting all the lines as well. I would really like to see some pics of your set up!

You can get adjustable pushrods from these guys....

or you could cut yours and make your own.

I will post up some pics when the rain stops here.

I KNEW I should have written down the part numbers for the lines...

I like the idea of changing the pedal to fit the rod, just in case something happens on the road and I have to get a replacement with just a screwdriver or something. I'm thinking just a little plate welded to the pedal that will accept the end of the rod. The plate will only be in tension, so it should work ok. I need to move the pedal by a long ways I think.

Here are some pics of the install. Sorry for the mess of an engine compartment, trying to get the thing reliable for towing the Greenspeed truck to the salt flats in a few weeks. I also found my receipt with part numbers (from no'reilly's) for the brake line a-dapters:

1 ea EDE 910PVF
1 ea EDE 913PVF
1 ea EDE 338PVF

Each of those lines had to be cut to use one end of them. Two were combined and there was one small fitting not on the receipt that was combined with the other line to make the second. Can't remember/find that part number though.

Good luck at the salt flats. Hopefully the weather and conditions turn around and there able to hold an event this year. Read an article earlier today that had concern about the lack of salt and the struggle volunteers are having coming up with quality/race able courses

Thank you for the info and pics! That is off a 2000-ish Cummins truck. Same system I bought. I had not seen anyone install the system with the OEM Hyd lines before. I have been toying in my head if I should use them or not. I might just now after seeing your set-up.

It never even occurred to me to use other lines, is that common?

Most of the systems I've seen here on the net, the people either use GM lines, or fab up their own lines and fittings. The custom lines do leave things slightly cleaner looking.

I used factory 2ndgen lines on both of my swaps, pics are somewhere in my mega-thread. :lol

Both of my trucks have crossover steering though, so the boxes are in the 2wd position. Dunno if that helps any.
