D250 gas converted to D250 cummins

I was wondering if there are differences in how these trucks are built - compared to the cummins version. In other words...can I pull this motor and put a cummins in it? I have the cummins but don't want a huge fight or a chassis that can't handle the weight. Thanks!

Don't know about the gas 250s but Andy (dazed andconfused on here) has been pimpin a 150 with a cummins in its nose with no problems.
Just check the gvw rating on the front axle. The diesel version is 4k

The chances of a gasser D250 having the 4K front end components is pretty slim. It will most likely be the 3300lb front end in that thing. It will be eight bolt, so that is at least better then a 5 bolt D150 set-up.

The biggest difference in the 2wd front end s is just the size and beef of the components...heavier upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, springs, front spindle, bearings and rotors etc. How long will a gas D250 front end hold up under a cummins...who knows? A few years I would suspect.

Other then that you could yard the motor and tranny out of the gasser unit and drop in a cummins and tranny....very little needs to be changed.

Thanks guys....I didn't think of that 3300 lb axle issue - the d250 is actually a W250...so I was thinking itwould be a dana 60 and would be the same as a w250 diesel...but maybe not?....anyways - now that I changed the picture what do you think?

Doubt your gasser W250 has a Dana 60 front. Iirc, you only got the Dana 60 front if you ordered some pkg, which included the NP205 tcase. They came together, you couldn't get one or the other. Believe it was Mark Nikon who shared this info before.

There are some gasser W250's with D60's in ther front, but they are not as common as the D44HD variant. If it is the same truck you posted before, it's got a D44 in it.

Personally, I would pass on the swap unless the gasser body is pristene and you have a complete donor ;)
