Alcan Leafs did not go in smooth

Postby Collers9640 » Sat Sep 12, 2015 6:45 pm

I'm hoping someone has a better way or some ideas.

I put Alcan Springs with 5" front lift and 3" rear lift. My buddy had put a set on his truck and I liked the way it sat. Well I'm in the military and my buddy got out and we have lost contact so I can't ask him what he did.
My trucks been sitting a while because I've been hunting drive shafts. Well I finally found some and I'm trying to fix old issues.
I got clearance issues in the front, the rear part of the spring way smacking the frame so I made longer shackles problem solved up there but now the front sits about 2 1/2 inches to high so I got 2" lift blocks and stacked them on the factory ones and had to get some super long U- bolts and it just looks huh?.

I know there has to be a better way, any suggestions?
Does anyone has a parts list that would make things easy and to remedy this situation. Also where I can get a good set of front shackles and are the proper height. I just don't wanna buy parts that don't work or I don't need.
I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to doing the math on this stuff.

Sounds like the front springs are too long. Adding just longer shackles will affect the steering geometry, maybe a little, maybe a lot.

Did your buddy have a 91.5-93 truck? Those had 5-6" rear blocks vs. the 3" on your 90. Don't stack blocks, get a shackle reversal and all will be good. If you are dead set on running longer shackles up front, drop the front spring hanger the same amount. Jungle on RCC makes some bang up pieces.

Everyone I've talked to has told me to check out jungle so I think I'll have to
I'm still wondering if my springs were an isolated incident or if more people had the same problem
