tire question.

Postby jethro » Tue Sep 15, 2015 3:56 pm

I have a 2004 f-350. It now has 31 inch toyo mud tires on it.
I want to stick with a fairly tall tire to keep my RPMs low on the road- but I'd like a more normal width tire
for better gas mileage.
I was told that the 2004 lariat, king ranch and Harley Davidson had an optional 18 inch aluminum wheel.
I have found some of these on the web for sale- but Ild like to verify that they will fit 2004.
I have looked on tire store web sites and they show an 18 inch in the later years like 2006 and 07-08 ect- not 2004.
I think the lug pattern changed from 2004 to 2005- so 2005 and up wouldn't fit my hubs.

Can someone verify if 2004 had 18 inch wheels available ?

Thanks ahead of time-
Tim

That is correct. They aren't the most common wheel to find for sale though. They are all basically the same 5 spoke pattern with some minor differences in machining/finish. Also there is an ultra rare SVT option that looks like the lariat model but has additional machining.

This guy has the Lariat version with 305/70-18's (35x12.5 more or less)

Lug pattern is the same, but the offset of different. You would need 2" wheel spacers to fit them OR swap in the front suspension and rear axle from an 05+ truck. I actually did this in my Excursion and it wasn't too bad. Bonus of getting larger brakes, tighter turning radius, stronger unit bearings, better locking hubs, and can run any 05-15 17", 18", or 20" wheel. Plus my Excursion was a 2000 so it only had the dana 50 front axle, so got upgraded to a 60 in the process.

The wheel in question has a little dish- has flat spokes - and each spoke has a milled inlay flat groove down the center.
I am thinking these are 05- or maybe not ford wheels ? I will try to include a pic or a link.
The wheel in question didn't look like those in the pics.

So same lug pattern but different offset !

http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/5189145359.html

I currently have 315-75-16 toyo open country on 16 by 11(or 10) wheels with about a 6 inch suspension lift. (too much)
need a ladder to get in !

Yea those are for 05+ trucks.

The 04 18's have a pretty noticeable dish to them. This is the harley model wheel
