Got my rear end apart. It seemed to have all the problems that the ford 10.5 seem to have (from what I have read)
With 180K miles I suspect the limited slip is long gone (and probably wasn't much good to start with)
Ring and pinion are pretty pitted. replacing.
been reading what the possibilities are for diffs.
Looks like powertrax no-slip is made for the 10.5 ls ( I think)
the other attractive one seems to be the eaton Detroit truetrac (limited slip with out clutch disks)
Either one seems to be better than the ford ls gutless oem unit.
Trutrac is about 500-600 $ - maybe smother operation than the powertrax ? Powertrax less $- sounds like it works well.
Any experiences / opinions. I will order in the next week or so. I dint think I want to worry with
the low performance and issues with clutch type ls units.
Thoughts ?
