In need of some knowledge

Postby b4autodark » Fri Apr 29, 2016 12:14 pm

I'm new here and new to Dodge. I just picked up a W250 registered as a 91 and am trying to learn more about it. In reading through the posts on this forum I see reference to 91,s and 91.5 trucks. Can someone please tell me the difference so I can determine what I bought?

Sorry to ask such a newbie question but ????

Thanks for your time.

91.5 was the start of the inter-cooled trucks.
I have a 91 that had a banks intercooler added, but it has the nonintercooled injection pump, injectors, vacuum pump etc...
93 W250 LE extra cab, 5 speed, warn winch, tach, piro, boost gauges. Gov.spring and fuel pin... Play truck
-91 W350 LE reg cab chassis.exxxxtended 175"wb, banks intercooler,on board air ,5 speed,... Work truck

91.5's also ran a auto trans with a over drive/ 518. Non-IC trucks had a 727 3 spd auto.

Thanks for your responses. I have a non intercooled 727 early 91 truck.

Just out of curiosity and having no experience with intercoolers, would I feel a seat of the pants difference if I installed an intercooler?

Thanks,

No

All the IC does is cool the inlet air charge. It doesn't add power in any way. More fuel adds power. But with the IC cooling the inlet charge. That would allow for more fueling.

Thank you, a very good explanation. For my goals and what I need the truck to do I'm not likely to need more power.
Thanks again,
