D350 front end rebuild

Postby kyled19 » Thu Jul 20, 2017 5:26 pm

So I don't know much about the fromt suspension on these trucks and what needs to be replace when it comes to a complete front end rebuild. I'm looking to do a pretty much comeplete rebuild on the front of the truck. I want to replace any and all wear parts. I'm curious what something like this will cost as well as what company I should use? I found this kit on eBay http://m.ebay.com/itm/201786551001 is this any good?. What parts need to be replaced? I don't want to miss anything when I get ready to order. All info greatly appreciated!

The listing also says it fits trucks with the 4k lb front axle so it might work on the oil burners

I can say for sure that listing doesn't include inner tie rod ends, adjusting sleeves, idler arm or drag link and you absolutely want to replace those parts. You might also want to replace the shocks with a good set and install new spring isolators they get crushed down over the years. On my truck the steering parts alone made a huge difference keeping it on the road

I've also replaced the brake master and front calipers and lines, bled and adjusted the rear brakes, and fixed the vacuum leaks in the booster system. With actual working steering and brakes this thing drives like a Lamborghini (the tractor, not the sports car, but that's still an improvement)

Honestly you are money ahead to buy new upper control arms. The ball joint thread into them and many times people don't realize and press them out. Then they are screwed so they tack weld the new ball joints in. You also get the ones that have never been changed and it's almost impossible to get them out. The lower do press out though.

eBay had the upper control arms.
*Upper control arm with bushings and balljoints
*Inner tie rods
*Outer tie rods
*Adjustment sleeves for tie rods
*Drag link
* Idler arm
*Lower ball joints
* Lower control arm bushings
* Red head steering box
* Borgeson steering shaft

That will rebuild every piece of steering components in the truck.
