Lock cylinder install into Keyswitch

Postby spencerdiesel » Mon Jun 21, 2021 6:45 pm

Hey y’all hope all is well with everybody these days. I’m installing my lock cylinder into a new keyswitch per the FSM and have the lock cyl and switch in the “lock” position (flag parallel with connector pin). When I press the lock cyl into the switch and turn the key (per fsm if I’m reading right), the lock cyl turns but won’t go into the switch far enough to unlock the retaining pin. Any insight is appreciated, thanks all!

Figured it out. The bottom curved “ledge” of the lock cylinder wasn’t perfectly in line with the “female” side of the switch. Had to cock the cylinder more than I was comfortable with to finally get it to seat.
I believe it was due to the aftermarket switch (aem from rockauto) not having good alignment internally.
